Question of the Day

Yay!! Another segment of Lacey's fabulous Question of the Day!! Woohoo! Bring out the noise makers and banners! Party!! Haha, yeah, I'm so proud of myself! I actually didn't think that I would be able to come up with a question for the next part of my Question of the Day journal thingy...

Okay, now that the party is all over, let's get down to business! I kinda came up with this question randomly at school while I was taking the Math Pre-Test earlier today, and decided that it would be just random enough for good 'ole Buzznet! So, Ready?

Doesn't matter!! I'm gonna ask the question anyway!!

If you could own any brand, clothing or gaming, what brand would you want to own and why would you want to own it? Or, you could give me your top three or top five.

Please answer!

Question of the Day

Okay, so I decided to keep posting these random questions I or my friends come up with, day by day! But, sometimes it might not seem like it's every day because of the time zone difference, but I will try my best. You gotta meet me all the way in the middle of the block, maybe the street? Whatever's more convenient for you dolls!

Okay, so I was just watching The Simpsons Movie when I came up with this question!! Yay!! Homer Simpson saves us all from Doom Day!! Or... causes it, who knows?

Okay, enough of that... junk. On to my question!

To be blunt or whatever, why the hell are most of the characters' skin yellow in the movie? Or, why do you think that their skin is yellow? Does it amuse you? Do you enjoy it? And what not.

Please answer!!

My Very Own Question of the Day

Okay, well this question has been swirling around inside my head for a few days so I decided, what the hell?  I'll post it here on good 'ole Buzznet!

Everyone has something mean or hurtful done to them at least once in their lifetime, whether it's caused by a family member, best friend, or longtime enemy.  Just like how everybody has done something cruel or mean to someone else, whether it was a friend or not, whether it was on accident or not, it has happened.  Unless of course you're a saint them, I admire you greatly.

Maybe you haven't healed from the torture you had to go through, or maybe you still feel bad about what you've done.  Or you don't.  Maybe you're real proud about what you've done and just want to tell people the story of your act of mean.

Whatever it is, I want to know.

Generally my question is:

What is the cruelest thing that you have done to someone or what do you think is the meanest thing that someone has done to you?  Who caused you this torture or, who did you do this act of cruelty to?  Also, do you feel bad?  Hurt?  Proud?  Ashamed?

Tell me.

It doesn't have to be paragraphs or in detail if you don't want it to be.  I won't judge you, I'm just curious.

Paramore gives fans a 'Riot!' in Costa Mesa

Paramore gives fans a 'Riot!' in Costa Mesa

Review: The band impresses on the last leg of its tour in support of its breakthrough album.

By NIYAZ PIRANI

THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

There were two ways Paramore's set could have gone down Wednesday night at Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa.

It would have been easy for the Tennessee pop-punk act, riding high on the success of its second full-length "Riot!," to rehash the set it delivered in November at the Grove of Anaheim. Here, with a crowd of about 8,000, the majority of attendees wouldn't have known any better.

Instead, feisty spitfire Hayley Williams and Co. chose to take the stage during the final tour in support of "Riot!" and deliver the staples with plenty of twists and turns along the way, turning something that could have been stale into a fresh run in that proved to be the band's strongest local showing yet.

Ignited possibly by the promise of an impending break after the tour, every member of the quintet (actually a quartet when touring guitarist Taylor York isn't in the mix) was ready to go from the beginning of this 15-song set. (Click here for a complete set list.)

Like a pint-sized Gwen Stefani, Williams bounced around the stage, fiercely delivering pop-punk anthems including "CrushCrushCrush," "Pressure" and "Emergency" and she had the near-capacity crowd singing along to every note.

While her growth as a potent and commanding frontwoman is evident, she was most compelling when things were turned down a notch and she was able to show off how pretty her voice really is.

"We Are Broken," was good, but an acoustic version of "My Heart" (on the set list because fans online kept asking for it) was a great display of Williams' soaring vocal range, and her drawn out "Woah-oh's" at the end of the song were a sweet comedown from the band's in-your-face style.

At the rate this act is going, it isn't a stretch to say this band might be playing arenas on the next go-round.

Another band that came to impress was Jack's Mannequin. Fueled by an audience of friends and family, lead singer-pianist and former Dana Point resident Andrew McMahon's worst moment came during opener "I'm Ready," when his overexcitement got the best of him and his delivery was choppy as he moved between two microphones (one next to and one in front of his piano) too many times.

He calmed down after greeting the crowd ("It's good to see you, Orange County") and he proceeded to crank out an energetic set full of songs from debut effort "Everything in Transit," without the boring patches that have slowed down this outfit on previous encounters.

McMahon also unveiled one new tune from "The Glass Passenger," due Sept. 30, and if "The Resolution" is any indication of the band's direction, well, expect more of the same piano-driven rock, this time with a little more attitude ("I'm alive/ and I don't need a witness / to know that I survived / and I don't need forgiveness").

Even opener Paper Route, an indie rock act from Paramore's home state, stood out on this night.

With a sound reminiscent of Modest Mouse and the Walkmen at their most radio-friendly with a coating of the Thrills sun-soaked California rock, Paper Route had much of the early arrivals grooving in their seats.

Such a pleasant surprise too as I was really expecting the opener to be some late-to-the-party emo act with boys in ironic T-shirts and overly flat-ironed hair.

Pete Wentz & Ashlee Simpson Craving Babies

Pete Wentz: Ashlee Simpson craves green olives and pickles

Fall Out Boy says she makes some bizarre requests

Friday, 11 July 2008

Pete Wentz says his pregnant wife Ashlee Simpson has started to have strange cravings.

The Fall Out Boy bassist says the singer has developed a penchant for certain foods.

'Green olives and pickles!’ Pete said on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show yesterday.

‘Green olives on everything! [It’s] an anytime kind-of-thing. You always have to be ready.’

Pete, 29, who married Ashlee in an intimate ceremony on 17 May, says he can’t wait to start bonding with his child.

‘I heard women become mothers when they become pregnant, and boys become fathers when the baby is born,’ he said.

‘So I don't feel all the physical things, but when I'm in the doctor's office I freak out. It's crazy because it's this thing you made.'

Ashlee, 23, is due to give birth later this year.

Pete Wentz: From Rocker to Domestic Dad-To-Be
BY: Actress Archives | Friday, July 11, 2008

Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz is divulging details on the changes that his life has taken on now that he’s married Ashlee Simpson and has a baby on the way- and it’s a life that seems in some ways surprisingly un-rock and roll. Everybody’s gotta grow up sometime!

Pete Wentz was a guest on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show on Thursday, telling Seacrest, “I'm becoming my dad, actually. I get up at 7 a.m. to drive [to work] down Sunset with traffic that I complain about. And then I come home, and I have a pregnant wife and two puppies."

But while to some that might seem overwhelmingly grownup, it doesn’t seem that Pete Wentz is longing for the simple days, back when it was all groupies and the open-road…instead, the dad to-be seems completely content with his new life as a husband and daddy-to-be.

Said Pete Wentz, “It's really, really, really, really exciting. When I'm in the doctor's office, I freak out – it's this crazy thing, this thing you made." He added that he tried to explain the feeling of impending fatherhood to his Fall Out Boy band mate Patrick Stump by explaining to him, “It's like making a record, but knowing you're going to mix it for the next 18 years of your life." It’s nice that Pete Wentz has taken time to figure out an analogy about fatherhood that even musicians can understand.

While waiting for the baby, Pete Wentz is doing his best to help wife Ashlee Simpson Wentz calm her food cravings, which he says include putting “Green olives on everything.” Sounds like Pete is a very patient man.

And that patient man is patiently waiting to find out the sex of his baby. Wentz told Ryan Seacrest that he’s, “Hoping the doctor will be able to see something in the next couple of weeks."

Not that Pete Wentz is being completely forthright. Wentz denied Ashlee Simpson was pregnant at first in order to protect her privacy, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Wentz already knew a little more than he was letting on…

=++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=

How do you feel about all of this? What do you think of Ashlee's cravings? Odd? Normal? Don't care? Tell what you think in the comment box thingy below!!

DRUM! Magazine's Drummies 2008

Posted July 10th, 2008

For Immediate Release

Neil Peart's Progressive Percussion Proves Itself Again; Nominated “Drummer Of The Year” For A Second Time in DRUM! Magazine's Drummies 2008; Selected “Best Live Performer” As Well

San Jose, Calif – He's done it again: Neil Peart has been selected “Drummer Of The Year” in DRUM! Magazine's Drummies 2008, a prestigious reader survey contest comprised of 42 categories, conducted by Enter Music Publishing, publishers of hip/drum percussion magazines worldwide. More than 5000 drummers nominated Peart; the runners-up were Stanton Moore, Mike Portnoy and Jimmy Sullivan.

Additionally, Peart won “Best Live Performer.”

“Peart has definitely shown his influence on drummers of all ages and walks of life,” said Phil Hood, publisher of Enter Music Publishing. “At the same time, the runners-up demonstrate the diversity of taste that our readers have. All of the winners have clearly proven their commitment to the drumming arts.”

Stanton Moore is a good example of a drummer, as Hood aptly notates, who is so obsessed with forwarding traditional New Orleans drumming in the spirit of stuttin' drummers, such as Zig Modeliste, Russell Batiste and Johnny Vidacovich. He was the cover of DRUM! in January of this year.

The winners of this year's Drummies will be published in DRUM!'s August issue and
announced publicly on over 500 web sites and media outlets beginning July 1 in a comprehensive campaign. The August Issue of DRUM! Magazine hits newsstands officially on July 14.

Jesse McCartney Is Single—Tweens Can Sleep Easy

Jesse McCartney Is Single—Tweens Can Sleep Easy

Fri., Jun. 27, 2008 7:35 AM PDT by DAHVI SHIRA

Jesse McCartney says he was in and out of a relationship while creating his third and latest album, Departure, but has been single now for about a year and a half.

And while Jesse won't identify the ex who inspired his lyrics, there is one name that can definitely be crossed off the list of suspects: Danity Kane's Aubrey O'Day.

At least to hear him tell it...

"It’s true that [Aubrey O’Day and I] hung out one night. We had a big show in New York, and then I think just a bunch of my friends, a bunch of her friends—we all went out together, but it never really amounted to anything, " the 21-year-old tells Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM morning show.

In fact, when Ryan said he couldn't tell Danity Kane's members apart, the musician agreed. "I mean, I’m not sure, I just don’t know. But I know that they all have something going on."

Ouch! Looks like Danity Kane (Aubrey included) doesn't top Jesse's priority list (or ours, for that matter).

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Wow, what a heartbreaker!! Anyways, what do you think of this? Does this make you jump for joy? Or does it make you scratch your head in confusion as to who the ex is? Well, whatever it is, let me know in the comment box down below!! Come on! You know you want too!!

Man rips head from Hitler wax figure

Man rips head from Hitler wax figure

Sat Jul 5, 8:08 AM ET

BERLIN (Reuters) - A man tore the head from a controversial waxwork figure of Adolf Hitler on the opening day of Berlin's Madame Tussauds museum Saturday, police said. if(window.yzq_d==null)window.yzq_d=new Object(); window.yzq_d['zv8Rf9GDJH0-']='&U=13fuqo6sn%2fN%3dzv8Rf9GDJH0-%2fC%3d674272.12804990.13083882.1442997%2fD%3dLREC%2fB%3d5406809%2fV%3d1';

Just minutes after the museum opened, the 41-year-old German man pushed aside two security men guarding the figure before ripping off the head in protest at the exhibit, a police spokesman said. The police were alerted and arrested the man.

The waxwork figure of a glum-looking Adolf Hitler in a mock bunker during the last days of his life was criticized as being in bad taste. A media preview of the new branch of Madame Tussauds Thursday was overshadowed by a row over the exhibit.

Critics said it was inappropriate to display the Nazi dictator, who started World War Two and ordered the extermination of Europe's Jews, in a museum alongside celebrities, pop stars, world statesmen and sporting heroes.

Dressed in a grey suit, the figure of Hitler gazed downwards with a despondent stare, his arm outstretched on a large wooden table with a map of Europe on the wall of his gloomy bunker.

About 25 workers spent about four months on the waxwork, using more than 2,000 pictures and pieces of archive material and also guided by a model of the "Fuehrer" in the London branch of Madame Tussauds where he is standing upright.

It is illegal in Germany to show Nazi symbols and art glorifying Hitler and the exhibit was cordoned off to stop visitors posing with him.

Unobtrusive signs asked visitors to refrain from taking photos or posing with Hitler "out of respect for the millions of people who died during World War Two." Camera surveillance and museum officials were meant to stop inappropriate behavior.

Institutions such as the foundation for Germany's central Holocaust memorial site condemned the idea of the exhibit as tasteless, saying it had been included to generate business.

The wax figure is the latest in a gradual breaking down of taboos about Hitler in Germany more than 60 years after the end of the war and the Holocaust in which some six million Jews were killed.

The 2004 film "Downfall" provoked controversy as it portrayed the leader in a human light during the last days of his life and last year a satire about Hitler by Swiss-born Jewish director Dani Levy was released in Germany.

Q&A: Amir Sadollah

Q&A: Amir Sadollah

Amir Sadollah won the top prize in a contest he wasn't even sure he was worthy of entering.

By Beau Dure, USA TODAY

Amir Sadollah surprised many people, including himself, by winning the tournament at the centerpiece of the last season of The Ultimate Fighter. He spoke with USA TODAY a few days after his win.

On his humble attitude:

The minute you get complacent, you think you're that guy, you're going to lose. It's different for everyone. There are some guys who are more brash, loud-mouthed, cocky, confident guys. If it happens to work for them, good for them. This is what I've found that works for me.

On C.B. Dollaway, his semifinal and final opponent:

I really didn't have a lot of interaction with him. He was on the other team. Twice a day for four hours a day we were both in our own practices. We definitely talked every once in a while, but I can't say I had too many long conversations with him. He was actually one of the more quiet guys in the house. Some of his attitude was just coming off a match. That's where he was more confident. He was never a loudmouth in the house, never got on my nerves.

On when he finally felt he deserved to be on the show:

I'm starting to think that. (Laughs) I'm starting to think maybe I should've been on the show. Maybe I'll be OK in that house. Part of the thing was that it was such a big deal to me, such an honor. It was almost a shock even while I was on the show that I was there. What I tried to do was use that disbelief to take some of the edge off the pressure. When you start thinking about it, you can easily drive yourself crazy. I think most people on that show will tell you they're not at their best. Almost no one is, just because of that pressure, because you're locked away, because you're on national TV.

What people don't realize is that it's great to be on TV, but you're also gambling a lot. You're putting your reputation and everything on the line. That's what reality TV is there for. People love to judge the characters, hate them or love them. When you go on that show, you don't know how you're going to come across. That's part of the whole gamble. There's a lot to focus in on. If you let it freak you out, it will. I kind of used this "deer in the headlights" thing just to stay focused and tell myself I'll worry about other things later.

On Rampage and Forrest, and how their personas differed on the show:

We all change mentally at fight time. Nothing else matters much. We try to hide emotions as much as possible. It's all smoke and mirrors, too, it's all TV.

What I also noticed from being on a reality TV show — it does a good job of sucking you in at the moment. When you watch reality TV shows, the drama in the house is really some b.s. — who took my space or something. At the time, it's a big deal. I never really understood until I was in the situation. … You look back and say, "who cares?"

On being under the radar:

Also the guys that are on the radar are the ones that get taken off first.

I never try to be too overconfident on myself, but I wasn't worried about having no pro record because the level of amateur competition around (Richmond, Va.) is a lot higher than most people would think of as amateur.

On what's next:

Hopefully I'll know something a little sooner than later, but at the same time, I'm doing a little mental vacation. When I know I have a fight coming up, I can't really relax. When there's a name on the table, it's fight time to me.

Maybe UFC 88 in Atlanta this September?:

It would definitely be cool to fight on the East Coast. That might be a little sooner than I had in mind, but this is my job now, so if I have to cut my relax time a little short, then I'll do it.

I'd love for them to put on a show in Richmond some day.

On Rampage and Forrest in the fight:

I think they want me to say I know some magic faults or weakness in either of the guys, and I don't. I think it's just what you see. You have Rampage, who's Rampage — incredibly athletic, incredibly good at what he does. Then you have Forrest, doesn't give up. He's not going to be outworked, period. If I had to make a prediction, I'd give the edge to Rampage in the first two rounds. Then past that, it's all Forrest.

'Class clowns' Jackson, Griffin set to meet at UFC 86

'Class clowns' Jackson, Griffin set to meet at UFC 86

The coaches from The Ultimate Fighter will figure out who's the best of the best — the best fighter in the best weight class in UFC, if not mixed martial arts as a whole.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, who took the light heavyweight belt from breakout UFC star Chuck Liddell last year, fights Forrest Griffin in the headlining bout of UFC 86 Saturday in Las Vegas (pay-per-view, 10 ET).

Driven by Liddell's rivalries with Jackson, Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz, UFC light heavyweight bouts have headlined half the top 10 MMA gates in Nevada, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. This card has been announced as a sellout at Mandalay Bay, which would propel it into the top 10 as well.

The Ultimate Fighter helped to promote the card and gave Jackson and Griffin, called "class clowns" by UFC president Dana White, plenty of chances to stoke their competitive fire while coaching against each other. But neither fighter is carrying any grudges from the conversations and pranks in the show.

Jackson attributed any hostility in the show to being a "sore loser" when one of his fighters would bow out. Griffin sounds ill at ease with the whole concept.

"I don't really like cameras or having to be certain places," Griffin says. "It was a lot of rigamarole involved in doing a TV show."

The irony is that Griffin rose to fame by winning the first season of The Ultimate Fighter. White recalls that he was a reluctant reality show star.

"Forrest Griffin was retired," White says. "He basically was giving up the sport at 24 or 25."

Griffin beat Stephan Bonnar in the April 2005 finale, which White calls "the most significant fight in UFC history."

Jackson quibbles: "I actually felt Stephan Bonnar won the fight."

Griffin beat Bonnar again 16 months later, sandwiched between losses to Ortiz and Keith Jardine. Griffin rebounded to beat Hector Ramirez, then put himself forward as the first UFC opponent for former Pride star Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, the last fighter to beat Jackson.

"You want to talk about an underdog?" White says. "People were scared for Forrest."

Griffin won the September fight and hasn't fought since then. Jackson also has been out of action since September, when he defended his title against fellow Pride alumnus Dan Henderson. Jackson fought in the Japanese promotion for several years and took Liddell's belt in his second UFC bout.

Griffin is once again an underdog in this fight. But Amir Sadollah, who won The Ultimate Fighter, thinks his coach could win if he gets through the initial onslaught.

"I'd give the edge to Rampage in the first two rounds," Sadollah says. "Past that, it's all Forrest."

The UFC 86 card features a few other Ultimate Fighter alumni, including Joe Stevenson, Patrick Cote, Melvin Guillard, Chris Lytle and Josh Koscheck.

Gym Class Heroes Frontman Arrested For Assault After Reacting to Racial Slur

Gym Class Heroes Frontman Arrested For Assault After Reacting to Racial Slur

7/2/08, 10:38 am EST

Gym Class Heroes lead singer Travis McCoy was arrested last night in St. Louis on one charge of third-degree assault. The punk-hop group had just finished the first song of their Warped Tour set, “Peace Sign,” when a black audience member near the front row called the New York-based singer a “fucking ignorant nigger.”

McCoy calmly asked the man, “What did you just call me?” As security was removing him from the crowd, the frontman reached down and broke his microphone over the man’s head. McCoy immediately apologized for his reaction and said it wasn’t representative of him as a person. “I’m sorry. But when someone calls you something that ignorant and that offensive, you have to bash their head in with a microphone,” said McCoy. The audience cheered as the man in question was carried away by security. Local police are not releasing the victim’s name at this time.

McCoy was arrested onstage at the end of his set. He was released early this morning on $500 bond, and this afternoon the band’s manager, Bob McLynn, issued a statement that reads, “Somebody in the crowd was taunting Travis with racial slurs. Travis invited him onstage with the intent of calling him out in front of the crowd, with absolutely no intention of a physical altercation. When he tried to help him onstage, the guy hit Travis in the knee area (which has been in a brace because of a recent sprain), forcing Travis to defend himself. At this point, a scuffle broke out. This whole incident is unfortunate. Travis McCoy and Gym Class Heroes are anything but violent. Their message is about racial unity and having a good time. It’s amazing that in 2008 there are still people out there that would say such ignorant things.” McLynn adds that McCoy has apologized to the Warped Tour’s founder and the band’s fans.

This is not the first of Gym Class Heroes’ legal woes. In March of last year, drummer Matt McGinley was arrested in Mexico and detained over night on suspicion of breaking and entering when he drunkenly stumbled into a private condominium.

John Mayer Admires Paramore's Punk Attitude, Pete Wentz's 'Heart And Brain'

John Mayer Admires Paramore's Punk Attitude, Pete Wentz's 'Heart And Brain'
Guitar-strumming rocker says he 'needs to find a way to go away' to complete next LP.
By Chris Harris, with reporting by Matt Elias

Back in late May, it was revealed that pop-punk outfit Paramore would be one of the opening acts on John Mayer's upcoming North American summer tour, which gets underway on Wednesday (July 2) in Milwaukee. For some, the pairing of the blues-admiring guitarist with the Fueled by Ramen-discovered act was baffling — or at least mildly surprising.

Even Spin magazine pointed out how odd the combination was, in an article that caught the eyes of Mayer and made him none too happy.

"I read this article, and they were saying, like, 'Paramore are opening for John Mayer. Why would they do it?' " Mayer told MTV News backstage at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London. "Good. Good for you. You sit there and stew in your wonder. It's music opening for music, people. If I could have gotten eight more bands to make people be, like, 'Why would they be opening for Mayer?' I would have. I don't know, Spin — figure it out.

"Paramore is just fantastic," Mayer continued. "They're great. Hayley [Williams] is such a great singer. I wish [the tour] could have been longer, but I think that's cool for them. I commend Paramore for doing the Warped Tour and then having the balls to say, 'Yeah, we're going to open for John Mayer.' I think it's pretty punk to be, like, 'We're opening for Mayer.' I commend them."

Paramore will be warming up Mayer's fans when his tour hits Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 19 and then again on August 20, in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania. For the remainder of Mayer's jaunt, which runs through August 31 in West Palm Beach, Florida, he'll rely on the likes of Colbie Caillat, Brett Dennen and OneRepublic to set the mood. Mayer is touring this summer in support of his latest DVD, "Where the Light Is," which hit stores this week.

As for Mayer's next studio offering, he said he's still mulling it over, although he does have three songs recorded for the effort (and he appears to have a sense of humor about his lack of new material).

"I'm still working on it in my head," he said. "I need to find a way to go away, in a world that's really hard to go away in. We'll figure it out. By now, it's more about staying in touch and figuring out what the next sound is. The record comes out when it sounds great. But so far, I love the songs. They almost have a different voice to them. I'm still working on being a singer. I think you'll get a more mature voice — more present, and not as airy."

If he's going to get less "airy," Mayer's head might need a bit of deflating after the flattery he recently got from Fall Out Boy, who asked him to fill Eddie Van Halen's immense shoes on their cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It."

"It's just such a cool compliment," he said. "When I heard about 'FNMTV,' that Pete [Wentz] was starting a show that was going to launch videos on MTV — that guy's heart and brain are so centered in the right place. So, when he asked me if I wanted to play on 'Beat It,' I said, 'Absolutely.' I turned down [the chance to be] in the video, because that's just part of the trivia of Eddie Van Halen being the guitar player on 'Beat It' but not being in the video. I thought not being in the video was more interesting for the guitar solo than to be in the video. It keeps that quality."

Pete Wentz: I'm a Fag

Pete Wentz: I'm a Fag

Fall Out Boy bassist and Ashlee Simpson impregnator Pete Wentz is on the cover of the new OUT magazine and in the accompanying interview he talks about how he is used to having derogatory comments thrown after him.

"When I'm going down the street I get called a fag all the time. We have iPhones, and I'm still getting called the same names as when I was 13," he shrugs.

"There is a sense of self-empowerment or recapturing who you are by people calling you 'fag,' and being like, 'Yeah, I am a fag.' Even though you're not. What does somebody respond? That dude has nothing to say about that again.”

"Homophobia is the last acceptable hatred," the rocker says. "People treat sexuality the same way that [during] Jim Crow [white] people treated African-Americans... It's totally dehumanized." Wentz thinks whatever bias remains will not survive another generation.

"The actual acceptance of gay marriage is inevitable," he says. "It's just like how the next generation of kids are going to all have tattoos."

Wentz refers to himself as "half gay," and boasts of making out with boys, even when corporate sponsors or fans' parents balked or boycotted.

"When I said that I make out with dudes, there was a slight sense of sexual rebellion in that. And I probably even made it a bigger deal than it was," Wentz says. The first time he kissed a guy was when he was 16 or 17, probably on a dare at a party. At 18 or 19, he says it was more like, "I'm going to try this thing." And most recently? "Probably when I was 22," Wentz responds.

The stopping point comes when the action strays below the belt. "It's really about the equipment," Wentz says and gestures at his crotch with a grimace.

Pete Wentz's gay denial

Pete Wentz is tired of being the victim of a "gay witch hunt".

The Fall Out Boy rocker, who is expecting his first child with new wife Ashlee Simpson, insists he is happily married and only interested in women.

Pete, who has previously referred to himself as "half gay", told Out magazine: "When I'm going down the street I get called a fag all the time. I'm still getting called the same names as when I was 13.

"There's a little bit of a gay witch hunt. I don't know if it's to bust homophobia wide open or get more attention. It's like, 'This person's gay, this person's gay, this person's gay.'

"When I said that I make out with dudes, there was a slight sense of sexual rebellion in that. And I probably even made it a bigger deal than it was. The last time I experimented was probably when I was 22.

"I've always felt this relentless heterosexual drive."

Pete also laughed off rumors Ashlee's father Joe - an ordained Baptist minister - banned him from visiting the family home last year.

The 29-year-old rocker said: "That rumor was such bulls**t. We laughed about it. Joe was like, 'We should take a picture in front of the Christmas tree holding hands.'

"I know I'm going to get a reaction when I say things. I don't get on stage and give a social diatribe. I am a performer and an entertainer."

The future's uncertain for Amir Sadollah

The future's uncertain for Amir Sadollah

by John Morgan on Jun 28, 2008 at 10:12 pm ET

One week after Amir Sadollah secured his position as MMA's best-known 1-0 fighter, the Richmond, Va. resident is still adjusting to life in the UFC.

Sadollah shared his experiences since his finale victory over C.B. Dolloway while a guest on a recent edition of TAGG Radio (www.taggradio.com), the official radio partner of MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

"The chicks are swimming," Sadollah joked. "It's kind of crazy. You know what? The guys are swimming. It's kind of weird. It's like male groupies. I appreciate the support and everything, but, yeah. They don't feel bashful about coming up and giving me hugs."

Despite never having competed as a professional before the filming of "The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest," Sadollah stormed through the first ever 32-man "TUF" field. The 28-year-old even had to face the widely considered favorite Dolloway twice along the way.

"I was really not disappointed," Sadollah said of being matched with Dolloway a second time. "To tell you the truth, I was happy ... because [Dolloway] was a guy I didn't want to fight. Of everyone I fought on the show, that was the guy I most didn't want to fight again. So in a tough-love kind of way, that was the best thing for me. I was like, 'Well if I want to win the show, I've got to fight the toughest fight.' And that was the toughest fight, and I had to do it twice."

Not that Dolloway was the only challenge on the road to victory.

"They were all the hardest fights I've had in their own respects," Sadollah said of his other bouts on the show. "Steve Byrnes was a hard fight for me, you know. It was my first fight in the UFC. Actually it was my first fight ever in a cage, with pro rules, elbows and knees to the face. That was kind of a lot at once.

"My fight with Matt (Brown), you saw that. It was a slugfest. He's probably the best striker I've fought in an MMA fight. Gerald (Harris), you saw it. I've never been picked up like that since I was a kid."

To complicate matters in Sadollah's first bout with Dolloway, the wear and tear of three fights in as many weeks left the newcomer with a difficult physical condition to battle.

"I was hurt," Sadollah admitted. "My fight with Matt (Brown), I got something called benign positional vertigo. That's from getting hit in the head, which Matt Brown did to me a couple of times. It basically just gives you dizzy spells. And I was really scared, too, because I noticed it after my fight, then your next fight is a week after that.

"I thought I had a concussion. I was training, and every time you change positions, the whole world, like, your perception of reality just spins. It's damage to the organ in your ears that handles your balance. I thought I was concussive. I thought I had brain damage. So going into that fight with C.B., it's to the point where they stand me up and I'm bloody and I'm smiling. And I'm smiling because the whole ring is like spinning, and I thought something was wrong with my brain."

But Sadollah persevered and was able to pull a pair of upsets over the much-hyped Dolloway to win the title of this season's "The Ultimate Fighter." And what assortment of prizes did ZUFFA provide its newest star?

"A contract and a smile," Sadollah joked. "I didn't even really think about it. Then everybody after the fight and online and stuff was like, 'Yeah, where's your car and your watch?' I was like, 'Yeah, where is my car and my watch?' But, nah, it's OK. There's definitely other benefits that come along with it."

Several cast members from "The Ultimate Fighters," including champions Diego Sanchez, Rashad Evans and others, have eventually elected to compete in a weight class differing from their season's contested level. Sadollah hinted he could be next in line.

"I used to think that I was a decent sized 185(-pounder) before I got on that show," Sadollah said. "And now I see that I am a small 185. [Cutting weight] is something I would consider."

Undecided for now, Sadollah plans on enjoying a much-deserved break before planning his ascent up the ranks of his ultimately chosen division.

"I haven't had any formal conversations with anyone," Sadollah said of his future plans. "Just the general vibe I get is I get some downtime, and then (it's) back with the nose to the grinding stone. I'm guessing in the next three or four months, I'll have something."

AVENGED SEVENFOLD Is 'Feeling The Love' On IRON MAIDEN Tour - June 28, 2008

AVENGED SEVENFOLD Is 'Feeling The Love' On IRON MAIDEN Tour

June 28, 2008

Vocalist M. Shadows of the Orange County heavy rockers AVENGED SEVENFOLD has issued the following update:

"We just started the [European] tour with [IRON] MAIDEN and I hear a lot of you guys are getting really worked up about the shows.

"Let's start with Norway. It was our first time there and we were blown away by the support we received. We can't wait to come back on this tour with MAIDEN in a few weeks and see you all again. As for Italy, it was our first time opening up directly for MAIDEN.

"Now just so you're clear, when we took this tour we knew it was going to be hard and we knew that IRON MAIDEN fans were very dedicated people. So when we heard a SEVENFOLD chant before we hit the stage we knew it would cause a stir with the crowd, but it made us proud and really got us excited about our fans over in Italy.

"We heard horror stories about opening for MAIDEN. Everything from standing backwards on stage so that the trash coming from the audience didn't hit you in the face to having bottles filled with piss thrown at your head. So after the show we felt pretty good about everything since we got to play for a lot of people and we got to see how many great fans we had there representing. So when you go to these shows, don't get upset if people don't understand just yet what AVENGED SEVENFOLD is all about. We are not a straight-up metal band that is catering to their audience, we do our own thing and that's why we have so many dedicated fans.

"We did this same thing two years ago with METALLICA; the difference then was that we had 40,000 kids a night with their arms crossed and not many fans. Now we are feeling the love from you guys and the one thing this tour is proving to us is that we need to come back and headline for you all after this is over.

"So the point is we are having a great time at the shows, and you should too. Don't get all upset about a couple bottles being thrown, next year half those kids may have A7X on their iPod and we could be their new favorite band.

"Like I said, we knew what we were signing up for and we are glad so many of you are supporting us through this tour. You are some passionate motherfuckers!"

Three's a charm for Jonas Brothers

The Jonas Brothers have conquered the hearts of millions of tween girls with forays in CDs, TV and movies. Now they're hitting the road.
By JASON MACNEIL - Special to Sun Media

Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas still can't legally drink in any U.S. watering hole and Nick has a few months to prep for his driver's test.

Hell, Charlie Watts still has 14 years on their collective ages.

But over the past 12 months the pop trio known as Jonas Brothers has achieved a measure of commercial and financial success that would even make the Stones a bit jealous.

With a platinum-selling self-titled second album, an upcoming album (A Little Bit Longer) set for release Aug. 12, a reality show Living the Dream, a made-for-TV Disney movie Camp Rock, which aired on the Family Channel, and a book and 3-D movie set for next year, things are definitely heating up.

Hence, it seems appropriate the Jonas Brothers dubbed their upcoming North American trek -- which starts Friday in Toronto (their only Canadian stop) -- the Burning Up Tour.

Despite the demands on their time, Kevin Jonas, 20, says he wouldn't change a thing.

"It's really crazy," he says from Paris alongside his brothers while supporting Avril Lavigne on tour. "But it's a lot of fun and we're enjoying every minute of what we do. The schedule we keep is demanding, but it's definitely an amazing experience.

"If I wasn't doing this, I'd probably be working at Starbucks. We know that we're living so many people's dreams every single day."

After poor sales of the debut album It's About Time, Columbia dropped the band from its roster in early 2007 when label president Steve Greenberg (who signed them) departed. Hollywood Records signed the band and are definitely reaping the benefits by letting the Jonas Brothers have creative freedom.

Joe Jonas, 18, says that freedom makes A Little Bit Longer a natural progression from the previous self-titled affair.

"We are thrilled with this record," he says. "It's definitely not a completely different change in any means, but this record was definitely inspired by some of the artists we look up to like Prince and Elvis Costello. And there's a little piece of funk in some songs."

The brothers are still finalizing the track list for A Little Bit Longer, but Nick Jonas, 15, is particularly proud of the title track, which deals with him being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in November 2005.

"My blood sugar (blood glucose level) was over 700," he says.

"Normal was 70 to 120, so it was quite bad but I've been able to come through it. I made a commitment to myself that night that I wouldn't let it slow me down. It hasn't yet. I'm not planning on letting it."

Another thing they don't worry about too much is the constant comparisons to '90s boy band Hanson, another trio of brothers who took their eternally irritating hit MmmBop to unbelievable commercial heights.

"We really start to wonder, like, where they come from with the Hanson thing and I think it's only because we're brothers," Joe says.

"I think, otherwise, our music is pretty different. I think we have a different style of music."

As for the upcoming tour, the Jonas Brothers say they have a few surprises planned in terms of staging and cover songs (A-ha's Take On Me being one), but guarantee the sold-out Toronto crowd at the Molson Amphitheatre some Independence Day celebrations.

"I think we're going to have the biggest July 4th party that Canada has ever seen," Joe says.

"We already planned that after the show, I think, we're going to have our own fireworks show."

While the short-term outlook is golden, the Jonas Brothers are already thinking about their career in the long-term.

They co-produced and co-wrote six songs on Camp Rock star Demi Lovato's upcoming album and see producing more artists as a huge part of their future.

In the meantime, they feel the sibling synergy is an attraction not only to teenage fans but to parents as well.

"I think families can definitely relate to us and people, you know, that are just coming to share a good time together," Kevin says.

"It's pretty exciting for us to be able to just get up there and enjoy every single minute of it.

"I don't think we can do it without each other. We love being able to get up on that stage and have a blast and have the support of your brothers next to you.

"And, I think for us, since we're there from the beginning with the writing of the songs through the production, it just becomes a different experience. This music really is us. We're not, like, a manufactured version."

A thing for Lavigne

Touring with Avril is 'amazing'

While touring with Avril Lavigne in Europe, all three of the Jonas Brothers say they're quite impressed with the Canadian pop star.

"Avril is amazing and the tour is going incredible so far," Nick Jonas says. "We're having so much fun meeting new fans out here in Europe. And, so far, it has been incredible and it's amazing to watch her set and just see how many hits she has. As you listen to her song at the beginning it's like, 'Wait a minute, I know that song too.' It's incredible."

Joe Jonas also says he knew most of her material, but also sees another side to Lavigne.

"As a person, she is really nice and she watched our show and she really enjoyed, it," he says. "So, we're looking forward to continue touring with her."

The trio also says that the hectic touring and side projects during the last few years have definitely had an influence on their songwriting. Nick Jonas says he's especially pleased with how the tune Sorry turned out.

"It's a song about being on the road and having to apologize to somebody for not being there," he says. "I think it'll give people an idea of what it's like on the road and not being able to be there for someone..."

And, unlike the Backstreet Boys, the trio says they might never have to stage a reunion tour for a very simple reason.

"I think for us, we're different because we're brothers and we might not ever break up, but I think we'd love to continue to tour for many years to come."

Sadollah humbly earns a berth in UFC rotation

In what was the true draw of the show, Amir Sadollah defeated CB Dollaway (again) by armbar (again) to be crowned The Ultimate Fighter 7 Champion. Judging by CB's reaction there would have appeared to be some controversy as to whether or not he tapped but on replay, it seemed clear that he gave a quick tap. It's funny because watching this fight live I clearly saw him tap out but when watching last weeks Ultimate Fighter, I didn't see him tap at first. CB reacted as if he didn't tap and it was so quick that maybe he didn't think he did tap but CB has come out an admitted that he did give a quick tap. He thought you had to tap multiple times for it to count but the rules state that it's at the referee's judgment on when to stop the fight. Obviously Herb Dean felt that CB did quickly tap and if he tried to fight it any more that his arm would have been broken.

As for Forrest Jr., what can you say? He was the underdog in every fight this season and he came out on top every time. Not bad for a guy whose first professional fight was on Saturday. Forrest Jr. took the route of a lot of Ultimate Fighters who go on the show, fall in love with their trainer, and then join their camp after the show is over. I think it was pretty obvious to anyone watching the show that Forrest Jr. was going to be training with Forrest and his camp after the show was over. Amir has a ways to go as far as being a complete fighter but he's off to a very good start. He's a muy thai fighter by trade and his submissions are good. His wrestling isn't the greatest but there's plenty of time for him to improve. He's also got plenty of charisma to carry him along the way.

CB Dollaway was the heavy favorite to win the whole thing and it came as a big surprise when he lost to Forrest Jr. the first time. I thought he would dominate in the finals simply because his cardio would likely be better with a full training camp (I don't think you can judge anyone's cardio on the show for obvious reasons) and he would be with his camp. CB is obviously a very impressive wrestler but his submission defense is lacking and his striking didn't look very good on the show. Part of CB's problem may be that his ego is larger than it should be at this point in his career. He's a work in progress but I think he'll be in the middle of the Middleweight pack in a year or so.

Sadollah humbly earns a berth in UFC rotation

On the just-concluded season of The Ultimate Fighter, coaches Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Forrest Griffin built up their upcoming fight with constant chatter and practical jokes. Favorite C.B. Dollaway built up a grudge or two and settled his business in the cage. Amir Sadollah stayed humble.

His blog for the Orange County (Calif.) Register was full of humility and praise for his fellow fighters. In his first post, he asked if he belonged on the show.

He proved he belonged with a win. And another. Then a stunning semifinal win — with Dollaway pressing, Sadollah deftly put the favorite in an armbar and forced him to submit. In the final, televised live on Spike, Sadollah again used an armbar to force Dollaway to tap out, though the stunned favorite protested that he didn't submit.

And so the former surgical technician from Richmond, Va., who had no pro experience before the show started filming, earned a tournament victory and a contract in the UFC rotation.

"I kind of loosened up a bit once he punched me in the face a few times," Sadollah said in a post-fight interview posted at ufc.com. "I remember being sunk up on the armbar and thinking I might have this, so I'd better not let go if he picks me up and slams me. Then he picked me up and slammed me, and I was like, 'OK, I'll just keep at this.' "

Sadollah still couldn't believe it when referee Herb Dean stopped the action.

"I wasn't sure what had just happened. I guess I'm still not even sure that I won. I might have gotten knocked out in the warmup, and you guys are just like, 'Oh, yeah yeah, you did good.' "

Also on The Ultimate Fighter card, third-season winner Kendall Grove won a decision against UFC pioneer Evan Tanner, who fought gamely but couldn't inflict much damage on his younger opponent. Grove halted a two-bout losing streak.

The next season of The Ultimate Fighter starts Sept. 17. Interim UFC heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and former champion Frank Mir, set to fight at a date to be named later, are the coaches.

Amir Sadollah, winner of The Ultimate Fighter 7, credits much of his success to his coach on the show, Forrest Griffin.

"I think the show helped me out a lot," he said. "Forrest, Cameron (Diffley) and Mark (Beecher) are great coaches and they gave it everything they had. They really wanted us to do well, and they gave us that feeling. I took a lot away from it and learned a lot both physically and mentally."

So impressed was Sadollah with Griffin's instruction that he trained with the popular light-heavyweight at the Xtreme Couture gym in preparation for the finals, and plans on relocating to Las Vegas in the near future.

"I came out to Vegas after the show to train with Forrest. I think this is going to be the place for me. I came out here and had an idea it would be good, but I wanted to know if would be a fit for me before I move across the country. I could definitely see me here permanently."

Despite already defeating Dollaway on the show, Sadollah is the underdog ahead of Saturday's fight. Some believe Dollaway's reinstatement in the competition is unfair, but Sadollah is unconcerned by such talk, preferring to concentrate his thoughts on winning the fight.

"I'm not thinking about whether it's fair or not," he says. "This is a competition and we didn't choose the fights or how things happened. The only thing you can do is do your best and try to win like it is any other fight."
